Let's have a look at some end-users, from Ndalike and Ikidiki, two villages in Uganda. They express their views on solar appliances. In their view, they are the more economical solution to fulfil the basic needs for lighting and powering radios and cell phones.
We also share the stories of four retailers who have started to make a living out of selling solar appliances of good quality against an affordable price. In Njombe, Tanzania, we noticed that good promotion results in a strong interest in solar products. In Rukungeri, Uganda, evidence was found that honest advisory sales actually pays off. In Kagadi, Uganda, the retailers found that a proper technical domain of the product, proper installation and tailor-made design are important success factors. In Brong-Ahofo, Ghana, we saw how solar entrepreneurs gradually develop their skills and business approach. |
